Level-Up Experiences

The following are recommended ways for you to practice and level-up your leadership skills this month within your current job. Feel free to use these suggestions or come up with your own. Once you have finished an experience, be sure to add it to your accomplishment tracker.

Lead a Project

Prepare: Talk to your supervisor about possible opportunities for you to lead others in a project.

Take Action: Once you and your supervisor have decided on a project, talk with the team you will be leading. Make an action plan and delegate tasks to the team.

Reflect: Reflect on what skills you used to be an effective leader.

Be a Role Model

Prepare: Think of ways you can improve at work to be a role model for others. Make a list of ways you can improve. Some examples are being on time, being more focused on your work, being innovative, or having a positive attitude.

Take Action: Each day, come into work remembering these ways you want to improve. Do your best to be someone others can look up to and be inspired by.

Reflect: Reflect on your changes. How did your changes positively impact your work and the work of those around you?

Take Initiative

Prepare: As a leader, it is important to take initiative. Think of ways you can do this in your position! For example, taking the initiative to implement a new technology to make your work more efficient or solve a workplace problem.

Take Action: Once you have thought of some ideas, check with your supervisor to get the go ahead!

Reflect: Reflect on how you feel after taking initiative. How does this make you a better leader?
