Level-Up Experiences
The following are recommended ways for you to practice and level-up your communication skills this month within your current job. Feel free to use these suggestions or come up with your own. Once you have finished an experience, be sure to add it to your accomplishment tracker.
- Practice Interview Questions - Practice answering a few standard interview questions.
Once you have crafted responses and practiced a few times, ask your supervisor to conduct a practice interview with you.- Tell me a little about yourself.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- What are your areas for improvement and greatest strength?
- Inclusive Language in the Workplace - Review department marketing materials/other communications. Does it use inclusive language? How could it be adjusted to be more inclusive? Once you have collected your findings and recommendations, meet with your supervisor to discuss how you might implement these changes and what role you could play in that change.
- Ask for Opportunities -. Consider asking for opportunities to lead a team meeting or give a presentation on behalf of your department in order to practice or enhance your communication skills. Talk with your supervisor about observing your presentation and providing constructive feedback. Use this feedback to continue to improve.
