Level-Up Experiences

The following are recommended ways for you to practice and level-up your teamwork skills this month within your current job.  Feel free to use these suggestions or come up with your own. Once you have finished an experience, be sure to add it to your accomplishment tracker.

Participate in Team-Building Exercises

  • Prepare - Identify a team-building activity or exercise that fits in with your team’s goals and interests.
  • Take Action - Work with your supervisor to plan a time for the whole team to work through a virtual escape room, a collaborative problem-solving challenge, or a group brainstorming session. Check out this website for some ideas to kickstart your creativity.

  • Reflect - How did this activity bring your team together? What other things can you do to continue team-building efforts?

Practice Active Listening

  • Prepare - Read this article about active listening and think of ways that you can improve your own listening skills.
  • Take Action - In your next team meeting or interaction with colleagues, make a conscious effort to practice active listening. Focus on understanding others’ perspectives and ask clarifying questions where needed.
  • Reflect - How did this experience change your perspective on listening? Were there any other changes that you noticed?

Find Opportunities to Help Your Coworkers

  • Prepare - Consider ways that you can help your co-workers and supervisor.
  • Take Action - Once you have completed your own tasks, check with your co-workers and see what you can do to help them complete their tasks. Collaborate on idea generation, event-based projects, and any other tasks your team is tasked with.

  • Reflect - How did others react when you offered to help with their task? Was there a difference in how the project was completed?
