The following are recommended ways for you to practice and level-up your Career & Self Development abilities this month within your current job. Feel free to use these suggestions or come up with your own. Once you have finished an experience, be sure to add it to your accomplishment tracker.
Strengthen your Networking Skills
- Prepare: Research industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Familiarize yourself with networking etiquette and how to introduce yourself professionally.
- Take Action: Attend networking events, engage in conversations with professionals in your field, and exchange contact information for future connections.
- Reflect: How has networking expanded my professional circle? What steps can I take to improve my confidence while networking?
Cultivate a Growth Mindset
- Prepare: Read books and articles about the power of a growth mindset and the benefits of embracing challenges and learning from failures.
- Take Action: Embrace new challenges, seek out opportunities for growth within your job by asking your supervisor during your 1:1, and view setbacks as learning experiences.
- Reflect: In what areas in my personal life can I further apply this mindset? In what areas in my professional life can I further apply this mindset?
Master Your Elevator Pitch
- Prepare: Craft a concise and compelling elevator pitch that highlights your skills, experiences, and career goals.
- Take Action: Practice delivering your elevator pitch in front of a mirror, to friends, or in mock interviews. Refine it based on the feedback provided.
- Reflect: Has there ever been a time I can look back on and wish I had an elevator pitch prepared? How confident am I in conveying my value in a short and impactful manner?
