Level-Up Experiences

The following are recommended ways for you to practice and level-up your teamwork skills this month within your current job. Feel free to use these suggestions or come up with your own. Once you have finished an experience, be sure to add it to your accomplishment tracker.

Collaborate with Other Working Learners

Prepare: Brainstorm possible tasks, projects, or workplace problems that need fixing that you could take on with other working learners. Reach out to your fellow working learners and see if they would like to be involved and then get the project okayed with your supervisor.

Take Action: Collaborate with your team members to solve the problem or complete the task.

Reflect: Reflect on how you worked in a team. How did the task work differently compared to if you would’ve done it alone?

Lead a Team

Prepare: Learning to lead a team is very important for teamwork. Find an opportunity to take the lead on a project. This could be at work or in class.

Take Action: While leading this team, build trust within each other, clearly define each person's role, and frequently communicate.

Reflect: Reflect on how well you managed the team with factors such as how well the team got along or the success of the project. Be sure to talk with your supervisor about what things they saw regarding your leadership.

Work on Your Time Management

Prepare: Work with your team to create a timeline for each element of the project and assign a team member to each task.

Take Action: Assess your assigned work and determine a timeline for yourself to complete your part of the project within the larger timeline. Be sure to leave some wiggle room to make edits and catch up where needed.

Reflect: Assess how following a schedule impacted how you met deadlines and how you managed your time. How can creating a schedule affect other projects and assignments?
